March 2008 - Hopuhopu SJing - Anyone got an umbrella?!

After getting Flynn's leg scanned to confirm that his tendon was in fact 100%, I took him down to Hopuhopu as this was our last chance at attempting to get a clear SJing round to qualify for Taupo. Unfortunately though, it just wasn't meant to be and with a horrible weather front stalling over the area, we had to ride in some really grotty conditions. There were horses sliding around all over the place, losing their back ends & it was just a general mess. We ended up with a rail in each class again in the 1m & 1.05m each day. We were very lucky in that we got to go & stay at Ky's place that night, so Flynn got a nice paddock instead of being stuck in a pen. Got back to the grounds to find all the jumps had blown down overnight, including the big wall which was on its side & took 3 guys to upright it. Good effort from the wind!! Couple of photos that Ky very nicely took for me. The organisers very nicely changed the course & moved all the jumps away from the mud from the day before.
